VAA Dashboard

The main dashboard displays VAA messages based on a specific set of criteria. To be displayed, an advisory must be the most recent one for a particular volcano and must have been issued within the last 30 hours. Each card provides a summary of the advisory, including the volcano name, advisory number, issue time, and the issuing VAAC. You can click the "Refresh" button to fetch the latest data.

Filtering Advisories

Above the VAA cards, you'll find a "Filter Advisories" section. You can filter the advisories by:

• Volcano Name: Type a volcano name to see advisories only for that volcano.
• VAAC: Select a specific Volcanic Ash Advisory Center from the dropdown menu.
• Impacts FL100 or Above: Check this box to only show advisories that affect flight levels at or above 10,000 feet.

Map View

You can toggle the map view by clicking the "Show Map" / "Hide Map" button. The map provides a geographical representation of the volcanic activity.

• Volcano Markers: Volcanoes with active advisories are marked on the map. The color of the marker indicates if the ash cloud impacts flight level 100 or above (red) or not (dark gray).
• Ash Cloud Polygons: The map displays polygons representing the observed and forecasted ash cloud areas.
• Layer Control: A layer control on the top right of the map allows you to toggle the visibility of the different forecast polygons:
  • Observation (Red)
  • Forecast +6h (Yellow)
  • Forecast +12h (Blue)
  • Forecast +18h (Green)

Theme Switching

You can switch between light and dark modes using the sun/moon icon in the header.
